Studio interview and live session with A-Mens
Jonny Virgo talked all things Lauren Hill to Michael Jackson with East London based solo artist A-Mens, then A-Mens and his friend Hydie Humble lit up the studio with his new track Symptoms of the System.
This month Jonny Virgo, Pearl Wise and Jessie Lawson were joined by Jonathan Donovan from the No Place Like Home Project – a series of photographs and interviews with people in places they call home. Jonny talked to Australian food writer Lani Kingston about her new book about our city’s biggest addiction London Coffee published by Hoxton Mini Press. Pearl discovered how Hackney based organisation Xenia, which connects migrant women and English speaking women, has been working with artists Forthland on their latest exhibition Bear Mother House. In her next episode of starting conversations, Jessie asked people on Ridley Road how they define sex, and finally Hackney based singer songwriter, poet A-Mens performed live in the studio.
Permissable Notations Of
Lucia Scazzocchio caught up with artists Rosalind Fowler, Louise Ashouk and Eva Knutsdotter in their studio as they were busy sewing together props for their exhibition Permissible Notations Of in collaboration with residents of the Wedlock Barn Estate in Hoxton and currently featured at the Peer Gallery. The music you’ll hear in this piece was created with the estate residents as a live response to the films they made.
The Estate Agency – What if we moved to Stoke?
Last week Pearl found herself looking around an Estate Agent in Stoke Newington that made me do a few double takes at the prices.. How could everything be so cheap? Was she reading the property boards correctly? It turns out she wasn’t dreaming, but it wasn’t quite that simple..
