Remembering the Bethnal Green tube station disaster of 1943

  • July 11, 2013

  • · Architecture · Art · Interview

Thousands of people take the tube at Bethnal Green every day, but what many of them might not know is that those steps saw one of the worst civilian disasters of the World War II. Nia Charpentier talked to Sandra Scotting about how she lost relatives in the tragedy, and to Harry Paticas from Arboreal Architecture about the memorial he designed to commemorate the 173 people who died.
To help them raise the £100,000 they need to finish the memorial, donate up to £10 by text by sending STHM43 £10 to 70070 or go to http://www.stairwaytoheavenmemorial.org
